The Annual Pastoral Conference of the Archdiocese of Guwahati that met at the Mama Margret Hall of Don Bosco School, Panbazar on 02 October 2018 studied GAUDETE ET EXSULTATE, the third Apostolic Exhortation of the Holy Father Pope Francis that deals with the Call to Holiness in Today’s World. Rev. Fr. (Dr) Jose Varickasseril SDB, a well-known Scripture Scholar from Sacred Heart Theological College, Shillong animated the sessions.

Speaking extensively on the five chapters of the apostolic exhortation, the resource person, Fr. Jose reflected on the call to holiness and how one can respond to that call in the modern world. Re-proposing the call to holiness in a practical way for the modern times, he dwelt on the document systematically.

A short prayer service conducted by Fr. Philip Pazhambasseril, Secretary for Biblical Commission and his team set the tone for the day’s programme. The gathering was welcomed by Mr. Allen Brooks, Executive Secretary for the Pastoral Council and at the end of the sessions vote of thanks was proposed by Sr. Theresa Joseph MSMHC.

The one-day animation was attended by a large number of priests, religious brothers and sisters and lay representatives from the various parishes of the Archdiocese. It ended with the monthly recollection and sacrament of reconciliation.
